PbCO3
heart IMA grandfathered

Cerussite is a carbonate mineral with the chemical formula lead carbonate (PbCO3). It crystallizes in the trigonal crystal system and is commonly found in the form of prismatic or tabular crystals. The mineral has a white streak, a vitreous luster, and typically exhibits a white to grayish color, though it can also appear in shades of yellow, red, or green due to impurities. With a hardness of 3 to 3.5 on the Mohs scale and a relatively high density of 6.5 to 6.7 g/cm³, cerussite is easily identifiable by its softness and heaviness. It belongs to the carbonate mineral group and is classified under the Strunz system as 5.AB.15 and the Dana system as 14.1.3.4.
