Carnotite is a hydrated potassium uranium vanadate mineral with the chemical formula K2(UO2)2(VO4)2·3H2O. The mineral has a very low Mohs hardness of 2, a yellow streak, and a waxy to resinous luster. It typically exhibits a yellow to orange-yellow color and has a relatively low density. Carnotite is primarily of interest as a uranium ore and is notable for its radioactive properties.
