Anglesite is a sulfate mineral with the chemical formula lead sulfate (PbSO4). It crystallizes in the orthorhombic system and is classified as a sulfate mineral in the Strunz system (7.AD.35) and in the Dana system as 28.3.1.3. Anglesite typically exhibits a white streak and has a vitreous luster. It is generally found in shades of white, gray, or yellow. With a hardness of around 2.5 to 3 on the Mohs scale and a relatively high density, it is a soft and heavy mineral. Anglesite is commonly associated with the oxidation zones of lead deposits and is part of the sulfate mineral group.
